Flight of Fancy Exotic Bird Sanctuary

Flight of Fancy Exotic Bird Sanctuary was established in 2002 to provide a safe, secure and loving environment for Exotic Pet Birds that can no longer stay in their homes. There are also those that have somehow escaped and are found outside in serious danger of becoming prey, starving, or dying of exposure.

There was absolutely nowhere to turn in the region. No place existed that could take in exotic birds

Flight of Fancy was born after recognizing this need and since then, many exotic birds have come through the door. There are still many more in need of a safe place to go.

The need for a Sanctuary has been proven over and over again. 

In July 2008, Flight of Fancy Exotic Bird Sanctuary was approved as a Canadian registered charity through Revenue Canada’s Charities Directorate. Charitable Registration #: 84840 4695 RR0001

Flight of Fancy does not breed birds nor are birds adopted to breeders.

Periodically it becomes obvious that a particular bird would be much happier in a less active environment or needs more intense one-on-one attention. Our strict process of screening potential adopters, and long term monitoring of the situation post adoption, ensures what is best for any bird going to a new home. The same process applies for fostering santuary birds.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

- to provide a safe and loving environment as a solution for Exotic pet bird owners who have no where for their pet birds to go when they can no longer keep them as well as those that have somehow escaped and are found outside in danger of starving, dying of exposure or becoming prey.

- to provide educational and current information to the public regarding responsible Exotic pet bird ownership.

- to be an information source for Exotic pet bird owners on issues of concern and to provide advice and guidance to individuals considering acquiring a bird as a pet.

- to serve as a referral source for the City of Thunder Bay and District pet stores, veterinary clinics, animal services and humane societies for Exotic pet bird owners or for general enquiries regarding Exotic birds.

Please note: We do not take in any wild birds.

Even if I don't put much text on my home page, it's a good idea to include hidden tools that will help me promote my site, so people other than my friends and family actually see it. For example, I could add meta tags, which are hidden codes that allow search engines to find my site. I could also install stats and a counter so I know how many people are visiting. If not many are visiting, submitting my site to search engines will guide more traffic to my site.
